Psalm: Ps 147: 12-13, 14-15, 19-20
Gospel: Mark 1: 7-11
How many times do we feel a body of water and find ourselves becoming one with it? Others may say that it is when they bathe, or when we swim in a pool. But for a Christian, it is when we feel ourselves united with God through Baptism.
In the scripture, John the Baptist announces the coming of the One sent by God. This is Jesus whom by him God’s salvation will be accomplished. And as Jesus goes to Jordan, it is revealed that he is the Son of the Father whom the spirit rests.
In our lives, we may feel the despicable tests of our surroundings — be it having a low score in exams, family problems or losing hope in life. But if we always put Jesus in the center of our being, we will also feel the recognition God has given to his Son when he was baptized. We will always be God’s sons/daughters, we are His Beloved; and with us, God is well pleased, just like with Jesus.
