High School Faculty Development Program

HIGH SCHOOL FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Rationale

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University, being a Jesuit School believes that its primary mission is the formation of “men and women for others.”

The formation is envisioned to be a total formation with the aim “to assist in the fullest development of all the God-given talents of each individual person as a member of the human community.” [Characteristics of Jesuit Education #25]

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University believes that the primary agents to carry out this mission are the faculty. The faculty members can assist in the fullest possible development of the student only if they themselves attain such a development.

The Faculty Development Program, aiming for the fullest possible development of all God-given talents of the faculty members, does not only address the growth in the professional skills and knowledge of faculty members but also the growth of other human resources and the formation of the spiritual life of faculty members.

Spiritual Formation

Goal
The aim of spiritual formation is to further deepen the awareness of the faculty member where his/her understanding and interiorization of the Ignatian spirituality and ideals are valued as integral parts of a truly Jesuit Education.
Performance Standards:
Faculty members embrace Ignatian spirituality as a way of life where involvement in apostolic services and promotion of peace and dialogue maximize teachers’ personality strengths to improve their role as teacher- formators.
