CCES and MAO collaborate for the Farm Animal Dispersal Program

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Center for Community and Extension Services (CCES), in partnership with the Management Academic Organization (MAO), is currently conducting the Farm Animal Dispersal Program.

The project aims to improve the economic situation of the residents of Monte Central in Barangay Patalon Zamboanga City by providing them additional livelihood resources. Farming is the community’s main source of income. Specifically, this project hopes to increase family income to help parents support the education of the children in Monte central. The FAD project targets to provide farm animals to 30 families by 2018.

On March 28, 2015,1 cow and 2 piglets were awarded to 3 Subanon families in Monte Central. In addition, 2 more cows and 3 piglets will also be given in the same area later this month. The MAO chose the Monte Central Community to be their recipient for the pot money they won during the 2014 Ateneo Fiesta. This project is co-managed by the Local Education Council of the Monte Central Indigenous People Elementary School and is directly responsible in the monitoring.

The dispersal program was attended by the Local Education Council of Monte Central Indigenous People Elementary School representative, Mrs. Jeraldine Ustalan, The Management Academic Organization faculty representatives, Mr Francis H. Arroyo, Ms Brenda Molina and Mr Journal Pangan, and Barangay Chairman of Patalon, Hon Gaudencio G. Rojas.
