Ateneo 100 Years and Beyond: Jesuit University to close Centennial Jubilee

After a year-long celebration, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University –one of only three Jesuit universities in Mindanao—winds up its centennial jubilee with a series of events that highlights its theme: “Ateneo 100 Years and Beyond.”

The Basic Education units of the university will have their respective activities on July 26, Friday. Storytelling campaign, Project Banig will also see its inaugural during the said day. A trade fair featuring products from AdZU’s partner communities will also start its run.

July 27 will host motivational speakers for TEDTALKS: 5th Week while El Consejo Atenista brings to the Ateneo grounds its own spin-off of the global reality show hit, The Amazing Race.

The AdZU community will then celebrate Mass the following day at the St. Ignatius Parish Church in Tetuan –the only one named after the founder of the Jesuits in Zamboanga City.

Fr. Ramon Bautista, SJ will lead the institutional recollection at the University Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, July 30, Monday. A cosplay convention, a blood-letting activity and a photo exhibit are also slated on the same date.

On July 30, a procession from the Fort Pilar Shrine to the main campus will end with a Jubilee Mass. Major activities of the day include the ground breaking for the new AdZU Grade School Complex at Kreutz Campus and the launching of AdZU Centennial Coffee Table Book.

Later that evening, a dinner will cap the 4-day long event.
