Ateneans welcome Ramadan with symposium

The Campus Ministry Office recently conducted a symposium entitled “Welcoming Ramadan” with the theme: “What is Ramadan and why do we fast?”. This was held on June 25 2014 at the Carlos Dominguez Hall. The goal of the symposium was to help raise awareness about the Holy month of Ramadan and respect for the culture of other members of the community.

Mr. Sheik Loderson “Maher” Gustaham was the speaker of the said event. He emphasized on mindfulness in our everyday living. Mr. Yusuf Roque Morales, Coordinator for Muslim Affairs, was also present during the program and helped answer questions during the open forum. The participants were Muslim and Christian students.

The next activity will be the “Grand Pagbuka” on July 28, 2014 which will serve as a closing program for the observation of holy month of Ramadan here in the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
