Ateneans Observe St Ignatius Week

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) Grade School marked the celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola with week-long activities.  This aimed at reaching out to Ateneans to live out their Ignatian values and to have a closer view of who St. Ignatius of Loyola is. The theme “Here I am: To love and serve in all things” is reminding everyone to translate these values in spirit, excellence and service.

This was highlighted by the launching of the “St Ignatius Exhibit” which featured the life and works of St Ignatius of Loyola.

Ignatius of Loyola, also known as ÍñigoOñazLópez de Loyola, a man of profound prayer who dedicated his life to God. He is the founder of the Society of Jesusand his feast day is on July 31.
We celebrate this day to commemorate him and his works most significantly because he is one of first three companions whose passion, fire and friendship paved a way to build a community of dedicated men who instituted and broughtAteneo into existence.

Various activities were prepared and carried out for the entire week which was organized and sponsored by the CLE Department spearheaded by Mrs. Elena B Segurigan, chairperson. These included the St Ignatius Trivia which was participatedby grades one and two students. The grades three and four level selected a representative from each class for the poster making contest. While the grade six students competed in a storytelling contest. Various classroom activities were held which aimed at bringing St. Ignatius closer to the students.
