Once again, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Alumni Association (ADZUAA), through the Awards Ceremony honored the exemplary achievements of the ADZU alumni. The awards ceremony was held on December 3, 2011 at the LRC Garden of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. These awards are given to persons who have been alumni of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University for at least 10 years and have met the criteria set by the ADZUAA. This annual event is part of the 3-day celebration of the Alumni Grand Homecoming.
The awards committee is composed of Arlita D Tubongbanua (Awards Committee Chair and ADZUAA Auditor), Pedro Rufo N Soliven (ADZUA 2011 President), George G Ledesma (ADZUAA Secretary), Eduardo A Catis (ADZUAA Vice-President), Marilou C Bejerano (ADZUAA Assistant Treasurer and Christine V Calunod (ARDO Director).
The Special Awards were given to the following; Special Award on Civil Aviation – Engr Jaime Vicente S Santos High School 1984, Special Award on Banking and Finance – Mr Alvin F Asuncion BSAc 1998 and Special Award in the Field of Judiciary – Judge Danilo M Bucoy AB 1976.
The Outstanding Alumnus of the Year was awarded to Francis C Macansantos (College) AB 1971; Outstanding Golden Jubilarian (High School) – Engr Santiago S Navarro HS 1956; Outstanding Golden Jubilarian – Marilou C Bejerano (Co) AB 1961; Outstanding Ruby Jubilarian (HS) – Engr Leoduardo L Limcangco; Outstanding Ruby Jubilarian (Co) Mrs Carmemencita N Delantar BSC 1971; Outstandig Silver Jubilarian (HS) Dr Raymond Gaspar A Sator HS 1986 and Msgr Luis P Araneta AB 1986 – Outstanding Silver Jubilarian for college.
Also, Mr Francisco F Dominguez was recognized as the oldest living alumnus of the association.
