AdZU-RAP and Accion Contra la Faime Launch the Generation Nutrition Campaign

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Recovery and Assistance Program (AdZU-RAP), in collaboration with Accion Contra La Faime (ACF), held a one-day launching of Generation Nutrition Campaign through the Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI) Office and the Center for Community Extension Services (CCES) on December 17, 2014 at the LRC conference room, Fr. Eusebio Salvador SJ campus.

The overall goal of the campaign is to foster awareness among the students about the current nutritional status of the Filipino children and urge them to be involved in finding solutions to the health challenge. The first part of the activity centered on educating the participants on acute malnutrition, especially within evacuation centers and transitory sites in the city. This is followed by a signature campaign which aims to influence government to take urgent action to end child deaths due to malnutrition. The event was attended by student leaders from the different organizations such as SACSI, Eco-Watch and El Consejo.  The staff members of CCES and SACSI were also present.

This is only the first phase of the Awareness Session. In the coming days the participants will undergo another awareness session on the different issues that the adopted barangays of AdZU-RAP, namely Masepla, Mampang and Rio Hondo, are facing. The second phase shall be a workshop on Action Planning which will allow students to explore ways on how to participate and contribute in AdZU-RAP through the programs of CCES and ACF. The last phase shall be the actual implementation of their plans.

The students committed to continue the information – signature campaign all over the campus throughout the program. Everyone is also encouraged to support the cause and visit http://www.generation-nutrition.org/ to sign the online campaign.

Together, let us be the generation that seeks to stop children from dying of hunger.
