With the recent granting of autonomy by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Ateneo de Zamboanga University now has the exclusive distinction of an autonomous status in Region 9. The grant is valid for a period of three years from April 1, 2016 to May 31, 2019.
The autonomous status is granted by CHED to HEIs who have been evaluated to show exemplary performance consistent with their respective institution’s vision and mission, demonstrated exceptional learning and service, and continued to develop a culture of quality.
Having maintained the autonomous status for almost 10 years now since 2007, ADZU will continue to have the privilege of being given priority in the grant of financial assistance and having a free hand at offering curricular programs and new courses, among other benefits.
ADZU shares the autonomous standing with 58 other higher education institutions (HEIs) nationwide, including Ateneo de Manila Univeristy (NCR), Ateneo de Naga University (Region V), Xavier University (Region X) and Ateneo de Davao University (Region XI).
