ADZU High School Receives CEM Exemplary School Performance Awards

The Center for Educational Measurement (CEM), Inc. conferred on Ateneo de Zamboanga University High School two Exemplary School Performance Awards for Mindanao Area for being a top performing school in Years I, II, and III Reading Tests for SY 2008-2009 and for ranking among the Top 10 in Year IV English Test from SY 2003-2004 to 2007-2008. The awarding ceremony was held at San Pedro College, Davao City on September 8, 2009.

The “Top Performing School Award” is given to schools who attained the highest mean score or the top mean score in the CEM Diagnostic Tests in English, Mathematics, Science and Reading for the entire Mindanao area for school year 2008-2009 and the “CEM Exemplary School Performance Award” for being consistently in the top 10 roster in the CEM Diagnostic Test in English, Mathematics and Science for 5 consecutive school years, with mean score within the range of high average to excellent and a population of at least 40.

Norma A. Baluca, Coordinator of the Center for Testing and Measurement, received the award in behalf of the university. The awarding of the recognition was one of the highlights of the CEM’s 31st anniversary which was celebrated last September 01, 2009.

The first part of the program was a multi-point videoconference relayed from Manila to the Visayas and Mindanao on the theme The Principal and the Challenge of Transformative Leadership in Schools. The keynote speakers were Senator Francis A. Pangilinan and Dr. Fe A. Hidalgo. The other highlight of the conference was the 2009 School Leadership Excellence Awarding Ceremony.
