ADZU High School LIMPIEZA Contra Dengue

ADZU High School LIMPIEZA Contra Dengue

Last August 6, 2010, the ADZU High School Community conducted the ADZU LIMPIEZA Contra Dengue. This activity was done in coordination with the SACSI Office in response to the concern brought about by the increase in the number of dengue-related cases in the city; as well as to strengthen the Community’s engagement in the University’s Solid Waste Management Program.

After the morning assembly, Miss Janet A Fernandez, High School Principal explained the purpose of the activity. As part of the orientation, Mrs Charissa Mae R Ibañez shared on “The Nature of Mosquitoes and Viruses”, and then followed by the “Importance of Properly Managing our Waste” by Mr Brian Bañgo of the SACSI- Advocacy on Environment.

Between 8:00 and 10:00 of that morning was spent for “Out-Door Limpieza” of the entire grounds of the Fr William H Kreutz SJ Campus. Quadrants were assigned to each group; the east quadrant were assigned to the fourth year classes, the west quadrant was to the second year classes, the south was to the first year classes, the north was to the third year, while the administration, faculty and staff were assigned at the basket ball courts and the soccer field. To facilitate waste segregation, rice sacks were used for the biodegradable wastes, black trash bag for the disposables, and another rice sack for recyclables; and a checklist of the types of wastes collected were given to the groups for characterization.

The rest of the morning was spent for “In-Door Limpieza”, wherein students cleaned their rooms.

The High School Community was asked to vacate the campus by two o’ clock for the fumigation activity.
