AdZU Gallery Opens Best of First Strokes
The AdZU Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago unveiled another group art exhibit on March 12, entitled “Best of First Strokes” featuring works by students of the past summer arts class.
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony started with an opening prayer led by Rogin Christ Eribal followed by a Welcome Message from Fr. Wilfredo Samson SJ. The artists were presented by the master of the ceremony Jonathan Geronimo Pajarito.
The artists are also accompanied by their mentors: Rameer Tawasil, Eisilane Muldong, and Dexter Wee.Among the featured artists are: Nelka Jones Julian, Erylle Duwayne Sta. Teresa, Elsie Vicente, May Maravilles, Justin Jay Legaspi, Sean William Tumarao, Anna Dulcinea Delgado, Mikka Ella Sebastian, Ethan Josh Perez, Rozel Dominique Bangalando, and Patricia Mae Ellias.
The artists are the chosen top art students from drawing and painting classes during the past summer arts class 2009-2013. The artworks vary from different media such as painting, charcoal, ink on paper, oil on canvas, and mini sculptures.“Every year, I try to explore an art. One of the first arts that I actually explored is oil painting and I am so lucky that I was under the tutelage of Rameer Tawasil,” shares May Maravilles, one of the artists and AdZU Languages Department Chairperson.
Tawasil says, “As art educator, our goal is to help the child bridge the gap between the mind and the heart.”“It’s never too late to unleash the artist in you” adds Maravilles.
The exhibit serves as a promotion of this year’s Summer Arts Class and will run until April 24, 2014.
