AdZU Faculty recognized as Sen. Roseller T Lim Outstanding Zamboangueño Young Leader

Mr Marco Alfino “Kiko” V. Miranda was recognized as one of this year’s Sen. Roseller T Lim Outstanding Zamboangueño Young Leaders. The award was given on February 9 2014 at the El Museo de Zamboanga, Pasonanca. This award is given annually to young Zamboangueños who have exhibited leadership and passion for service much like the late Senator Roseller T Lim.Kiko Miranda is a faculty member of the Department of Communication and Project Officer of Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute and the Center for Performing and Visual Arts.

He is the founder of Project Banig Zamboanga – a volunteer-based campaign that seeks to empower children of Western Mindanao through the power of arts and storytelling. He is also a project officer of DAKILA- Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism. DAKILA (nobility) – Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism is a group of artists, students and individuals committed to advocating social consciousness formation among both their industry peers and their immediate audiences.

The other awardees were Ms Rhenette Cabanero, ADZU BSED major in English batch 2012 and currently teaching at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School, and Ms Meryl Grace Agudelo, Chief Changemaker of I CAN Make a Difference, Inc.Mr Kiko Miranda stated that “the award conferred to me by the city government of Zamboanga and JCI is more for my volunteers, my family, and beneficiaries of Project Banig, who are the reason behind this success.  This is a calling, and there is no turning back.”
