AdZU BSECE Alumni lays groundwork for space launch

Preparing for a space launch, AdZU BS Electronics Engineer (BSECE) Alumni, Engr Renzo Wee, forms part of Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Space Technology and Applications Master, Innovation and Advancement (STAMINA4Space) Program that studies and builds the country’s first locally-made satellite.

The team of young engineers and scientists are working on a cube satellite that can help monitor the different land areas of the Philippines. Wee is “responsible for ensuring that the satellite can withstand the harsh environment of outer space.”

He had always wanted to be an astronaut and grabbed on to the opportunity to participate in the microsatellite program in anticipation of the country’s very own space agency.

Wee, like his fellow scholars, looks positively towards the future of space exploration and the possibility of the Philippines launching its own rocket.
