AdZU ACLG takes part in MOC Signing for Public Safety

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG) took part in the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) for the implementation of the Community Public Safety Planning (CPSP) on August 1, 2014 at Badjao 1, Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.

This was held in the advent of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the Local Government of Zamboanga City and USAID-ENGAGE on January 13, 2014. The official signing of the MOC was initiated by the USAID-ENGAGE together with the partnering agencies who will aid and support the program. These agencies are Ateneo de Zamboanga University Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG), Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), and the Crime Watch Volunteer (CWV). They will formally initiate the crafting of Modelling, Manualization, and Mainstreaming of Community Public Safety Planning otherwise known as the M3CPSP for the purpose of reducing the crime rate in this city.

“Public safety is a basic human right.” This was declared by Chief of Party, USAID-ENGAGE, Mr. Barry Reed, in his opening remarks during the Memorandum of Cooperation signing.

He further added that it is essential for one person to feel secured and safe. He also emphasized the highlight of the MOC signing is the coming together of the different stakeholders from the academe, city government, and the CSOs to address the issue of security in the city.

Several key personnel coming from other units came to attend and witness the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation including the Barangay Chairman of Upper Calarian, Hon. El King Umaga, who was the first constituent barangay for pilot testing.
