ACLG, USAID-ENGAGE, WMSU, and Crime Watch Volunteers hold Symposium on Crime Prevention and Public Safety
The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG), together with its partner organizations USAID-ENGAGE, Crime Watch Volunteer of Zamboanga City, and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) conducted the Symposium on Crime Prevention and Public Safety.The symposium was held on September 19, 2014, Friday, at Centro Latino, Paseo del Mar, Zamboanga City.
In the advent of the Memorandum of Agreement which was duly initiated successfully with the City Government of Zamboanga last January 2014 through its representative Mayor Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and together with the partnering organizations, to wit; The Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance duly represented by the ADZU President Fr. Karel San Juan,S. J., The Crime Watch Vounteer of Zamboanga City duly represented by Sonny Boy Jalani, and the Western Mindanao State University represented by Dr. Milabel Ho, came into a formal contract signing on Public Safety in Zamboanga City with the utmost objective to reduce the crime rate in the city specifically in the entire ninety-eight (98) barangays.
The program started 2:00pm in the afternoon. The opening remarks was delivered by Director Elmer Apolinario of the Zamboanga CDRRMO followed by the symposium.
There were speakers invited to share their knowledge in terms of their expertise and background in crime prevention and public safety. These key speakers were identified as community leaders affiliated with different private and government agencies.
The closing message was delivered by the Local Chief Executive of this City Hon. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar who then shared some insights and information on why public safety has to be initiated. She also emphasized that the city should be strengthened.The constituents should gain back their confidence over safety and security of the community against crime and threat to life.
