ACGO holds Job Fair 2016

The Ateneo College Guidance and Counseling Office held this year’s Job Fair last November 15-16 at the Multi-Purpose Covered Courts.

The Job Fair is an event where graduating students undergo the process of applying for a job. Several activities are also lined up to give the students the necessary preparations vital to job hunting. It is also an opportunity for participating companies to recruit qualified applicants to join their workforce.

Primarily, Job Fair was intended for simulation and exposure purposes only. Over the years, however, it has evolved to become a real opportunity to find jobs. And this year, participants may be hired on-the-spot should their qualifications merit the company’s approval.

Around 400 graduating students and alumni, and 39 companies participated in this year’s Job Fair. Two of these companies are from out of town; Banco de Oro Davao Branch and FACTSET, a mobile and desktop software service provider based in Manila.

A number of applicants, upon passing the initial interview for FACTSET were immediately asked to take the employment exam. Results are yet to be published.

The opening program, held on day 1 of the Job Fair, had Hon Isabelle Climaco-Salazar as the keynote speaker. In her speech, Mayor Beng stressed the importance of the Ateneo formation of Magis and Cura Personalis as a mark of a true Atenean. She further challenged the participants of the Job Fair by saying that the biggest challenge for them is to live up to the formation of being men and women for others.

She ended her speech by saying, “May you find love in whatever job you land today and when you find where your love is, that is where you will find your true self; and when you find your true self, that will be the joy of your heart.”
