Jesuit Basic Education Commission (JBEC) Administrators from 12 Jesuit institutions in the Philippines converged for the 26th JBEC Summit last February 28 to March 02, 2016, at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Kreutz Campus in Tumaga.

Participants to the administrators’ meeting composed of the Presidents, Vice Presidents, Principals, Assistant Principals, and Department Chairpersons of the JBEC member-schools, discussed vital matters including updates on the K-12 Program implementation and the implications of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) on the security and economy of Mindanao.

Notable developments on the state of basic Jesuit institutions reported during the three-day event include the formal stating of the Apu Palamguwan Cultural Education Center in Bukidnon, a school for indigenous people (IP), as the latest addition to the slate of Jesuit schools in the country. Another significant milestone recounted was the establishment of the new grade school campus in Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU), highlighting its role in improving the basic education services of AdNU.

JBEC members, through Director and Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) Vice President for Basic Education Fr. Anthony Pabayo SJ also acknowledged AdZU’s Fr. William H. Kreutz SJ Campus as the best basic education campus among the Jesuit schools in the country, underscoring its various facilities and features that enhance the students’ capacity to learn and enjoy their formative years.
