AdZU Spearheads Seminars for ZAMBASULTAPS Teachers & Administrators

Faculty and staff from the Ateneo de Zamboanga University have been tapped to conduct seminar-workshops for Senior High School administrators and teachers of the Zamboanga Basilan Sulu Tawi-Tawi Association of Private Schools (ZAMBASULTAPS) and the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) in Region IX and Western ARMM on pedagogy, work ethic and mastery of content.

Content-based seminar-workshops for SHS teachers teaching finance and accounting, physics, chemistry and calculus were conducted last April 25 to 27, 2018; and for guidance counselors and student activity coordinators, from May 1 to 3, 2018. Both trainings were held at the Claret School of Zamboanga City.

This series of seminar-workshops is just one of the several projects of ZAMBASULTAPS and CEAP-IX headed by AdZU President Fr. Karel San Juan, SJ. Its headquarters is based in AdZU and is managed by Regional Program Coordinator Annie Ebreo.

ZAMBASULTAPS, initiated almost 30 years ago by past AdZU president Fr. Ernesto Carretero, SJ, and later expanded by his successor Fr. Willam Kreutz SJ, was formed to bridge the gap between private schools and government agencies. More than that, the association aims to provide more “in-service trainings, trainers’ trainings, and seminars on peace and on the ministry of teaching”. Currently, ZAMBASULTAPS has 90 member-schools, with 50 of those schools being members of CEAP.

CEAP, on the other hand, works with other institutions to pursue its mission of solidarity, inclusive Catholic education and catalyzing change, in line with its vision for a transformed tomorrow. These institutions include AdZU, the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, Private Education Assistance Committee, and more.
