2011 Nutrition Month Celebration in ADZU Grade SChool


The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Grade School celebrates Nutrition Month Celebration, which is an annual event held every July in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 491. , with the theme “Isulong ang Breastfeeding: Tama, Sapat at Ekslusibo”.This theme focuses on key messages to ensure successful breastfeeding practices.

Science Department launched the opening of Nutrition Month Celebration last July 04, 2011 and to be followed by an opening program on July 21, 2011. Among the activities for this month-long celebration are the following:

Part I – Health and Nutrition Education

  • Health teachings and untrition instruction in the classroom
  • Nutritious food preparation for the school children
  • Science Trivia (open to all students)

Part II – Nutrition Education Program

Level 1 – “Search for a Healthy Pupil”

In-charge: Miss Sheryl Jalon and Mrs. Jennifer Pingos

Category: Grades I & II pupils

Description: A search for a boy and a girl pair that best embodies a healthy lifestyle; (good looking, healthy, smart, talented as well advocates of good health and nutrition).

Participants: one/section

Level 2 – “ Search for a Nutri-Milk Kid”

In-charge: Mrs. Erlinda Alama and Miss Erlin Lozada

Category: Grades III & IV pupils

Description: A search for a boy and a girl pair that best embodies the benefits of drinking milk; (good looking, smart, talented as well advocates of healthy teeth, shiny hair and smooth skin).

Participants: one/section

Level 3 – “Nutri Fun Cheer Dance Competition”

In-charge: Mrs. Annabelle Gonzales and Miss Cisel Subrado

Category: Grades IV & VI pupils

Description: A cheer dance competition by teams highlighting Nutrition Guideline Number 2.

“Breastfeed infants exclusively from birth to 4-6 months and then give appropriate foods while continuing breastfeeding.”
