The collaboration between the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Research Office and the Commission on Population and Development Region IX resulted to the hosting of a ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐บ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ with the theme โ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ: ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒโ on December 4, 2025, at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Ateneo de Zamboanga University.


The Forum highlighted the need for an informed, research-driven policies in shaping sustainable solutions for communities. A key moment in the Forum is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ADZUโrepresented by Fr. Rene Tacastacas, SJ, Vice President for Higher Education on behalf of Fr. Guillrey Anthony Andal, SJ, University President and Ms. Perla Ledesma, URO Director, and CPD IX, represented by Regional Director EnP Leticia Dolores II C. Abao and Assistant Regional Director Rolando G. Borja. This signing signifies the start of the partnerships that will solidify these institutionsโ shared commitment in research and development collaboration, aiming to drive change and improve lives through evidence-based and data-driven action.

Ms Opinionโs research uses data analytics and GIS to identify factors linked to fire risk in Zamboanga City. It also develops visual tools and maps to help communities and local agencies better understand and manage fire-related vulnerabilities.

Mr Epinoโs study presents the development of ALeRTO, an innovative flood early warning system that automates alerts based on water level thresholds. It also documents the systemโs evolution, technology framework, and integration with local disaster preparedness efforts.
Ms. Perla โArleneโ S. Ledesma synthesized the key takeaways, emphasizing three essential outputs: (1) adopting holistic approaches, (2) empowering communities through localized strategies, and (3) strengthening resilience-building initiatives. She highlighted that addressing social vulnerabilities and environmental risks is crucial in building healthier and more resilient communities.
CPD IX Regional Director EnP Leticia Dolores II C. Abao, in her closing message, challenged participants to transform insights into action, ensuring that research continues to inform policies, enhance interventions, and help build communities where equity, safety, and resilience can thrive.
