The University Research Office (URO), in collaboration with the Social Development Unit Research Committee, conducted its First Kapihan Session with the Social Development Unit (SDU) members. The session was held on January 23, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the FEC Conference Room and was facilitated by Mr. Gerald James Ebal, Research Associate.

The Kapihan provided a venue for participants to share insights drawn from their community engagements. Discussions focused on the impact of SDU initiatives on communities, political involvement in the BARMM, conflict resolution in Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, and the economic sustainability and viability of local arts initiatives.

Through guided dialogue and collaborative reflection, these experiences were translated into potential research interests and initial concepts aligned with SDU’s Research Agenda. The session highlighted the importance of collaborative inquiry and grounded research, supporting participants in developing community-based ideas that may progress toward formal research proposals.
